Flag:

The flag of Mexico has three equal vertical bands of green, white, and red; with the Mexican coat of arms centered in the white band.

Coat of Arms: An eagle perched on a cactus and carrying a snake in its beak; symbolizes Aztec legend behind founding of Tenochtitlan, now Mexico City

Green: Signifies hope

White: Signifies peace and honesty

Red: Signifies hardiness, bravery, strength and valor 

Fact: similar to the flag of Italy, uses lighter shades of red and green, and does not display anything in its white band 

Did you know… Mexico was the site of several advanced Amerindian civilizations—including  the Olmec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, Zapotec, Maya, and Aztec—until the civilizations were conquered and colonized by Spain in the early 16th century.
